GST invoice format and generator
Add GSTIN, HSN/SAC codes and the GST rate per item. Intra-state sales split into CGST + SGST; untick the option for IGST on inter-state sales.
Template only. This tool creates PDF invoices; it is not an e-invoicing system and does not guarantee compliance with Indian GST tax or invoicing rules. Check requirements with your accountant or a chartered accountant or the GST portal. Businesses required to issue e-invoices must generate them through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP).
Fill in your invoice
What a GST tax invoice must include
- Supplier name, address and GSTIN
- A consecutive invoice number (up to 16 characters, unique for the financial year) and the date
- Recipient name, address and GSTIN (if registered)
- HSN code for goods or SAC code for services, description, quantity and unit
- Taxable value after discounts, the GST rate and the CGST, SGST/UTGST or IGST amounts
- Place of supply with state name and code (for inter-state supplies), and the supplier's signature
CGST + SGST or IGST?
For a sale within the same state, GST is split equally into CGST and SGST (or UTGST). For a sale to another state, the full rate is charged as IGST. Tick or untick "Split into CGST + SGST" under Tax options; for IGST, set the tax name to IGST.
Most goods and services now fall under the 5% or 18% slabs, with 0% and 40% for specific items. Always confirm the rate for your HSN/SAC code.
