What to include on a cleaning invoice

  • Your business name, contact details and license number if your trade requires one
  • The client's name, billing address and the job or project address
  • The service address and the date(s) of each visit
  • Type of clean (standard, deep, move-out) and any add-ons
  • Supplies, if you bill them separately
  • Subtotal, tax (if you charge it) and the balance due
  • Payment terms, due date and how the client can pay

How cleaning businesses usually bill

Residential cleaners usually charge per visit or per hour, invoicing weekly or monthly for regular clients. Commercial cleaning is often a flat monthly contract.

Spell out your cancellation policy in the terms — it's the most common billing dispute.

Questions

Should I invoice each visit?

For regular clients, one monthly invoice listing each visit is easier for both of you.

How do I charge for supplies?

Either include them in your rate or add a "Cleaning supplies" line — just be consistent.
